Dr. Mom, (Terri Coco, MD) is a wife, mom of two, stepmom of two and grandmother of two. When she is not in the Emergency Room, she enjoys spending time with her family, all water sports and activities and exercising. Dr. Coco’s medical areas of interest include childhood safety and injury prevention. She works at Children’s as the medical director for the After Hours Pediatric clinic and the Pediatric Advanced Life Support course.

Dr. John Grant is a board certified plastic surgeon with more than 15 years of experience working with children. He is chief of pediatric plastic surgery and craniofacial surgery at Children’s of Alabama, and heads the UAB Cleft and Craniofacial Center. He holds the James C. Lee III endowed chair in pediatric plastic surgery and teaches nationally and internationally.

Scott H. James, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. James came to UAB and Children’s of Alabama for an Infectious Diseases fellowship in 2008. Following this training, he transitioned to a faculty position in 2011. At Children’s, he attends on the Infectious Diseases Consultation Service, the General Inpatient Pediatric Service and in the Family Clinic. His research interests focus on viral infections in infants and children. He and his wife have four children.

Dr. Yung Lau, a pediatric cardiovascular electrophysiologist, is director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Children’s of Alabama. He has 20 years of experience as a pediatric cardiologist. He earned his MD at Loma Linda University, and received addition training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Sri Narayanan, MD has been an inpatient pediatrician at Children’s of Alabama since 2008. He grew up in New Jersey and moved to Birmingham after completing his pediatric residency in Cleveland, Ohio. His research interests include inpatient asthma and croup care and patterns of unnecessary lab testing. His favorite part of working at Children’s is teaching residents and medical students how to manage common illnesses, stabilize critically ill patients and interpret current pediatric research. When Sri is not at the hospital, he enjoys cooking, weightlifting, drawing and exploring new restaurants around the city.

Ann P. Slattery DrPH, RN, RPh, CSPI, DABAT is the Managing Director and Clinical Toxicologist of the Regional Poison Control Center at Children’s of Alabama. She is a registered nurse, registered pharmacist and holds both a Master’s degree and Doctorate in Public Health. Ann is a member of member of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and the American Board of Applied Toxicology.

Susan (Sue) Teske holds an MS in Human Nutrition from the University of Alabama.  She is a registered dietitian and a board certified nutrition support clinician and has held leadership positions at the national level in pediatric nutrition practice and served on advisory boards for nutrition education programs.
In 1995, Sue was promoted to Director for the Department of Clinical Nutrition at Children’s. In 2005, Lactation Services was added to her department. Sue’s personal interests include guitar, arts and crafts, dog training and gardening.
